Georgia Family Law Court Resources: Find the Right Starting Point
Finding a court form is only the first step. Before using it, confirm which court handles your issue, whether the form fits your circumstances and whether you are looking at the current version. Our office can help you identify questions about divorce, custody, support and protective orders without assuming one county’s packet works everywhere.
Start with the court and the case
Keep the full case number, county, court name and assigned judge together with any hearing notice. A city or postal address does not determine the correct filing location for every matter. Tell us about prior orders, another state’s proceedings and where the parties live before selecting a packet.
Use official information and check the date
The Judicial Council of Georgia’s official website provides a starting point for court information and self-help resources. Follow the relevant court’s instructions and verify the form’s revision date, required attachments and filing process. A search result or an old saved PDF may miss a later change. Court staff can explain administrative procedures, but you should obtain legal advice about what to request and the consequences of a proposed filing.

Bring the documents you already have
Bring a complete copy of served papers, existing orders, proposed agreements and notices. Note dates of receipt and any approaching hearing. Avoid sending private financial or family information through an unfamiliar upload page. Our office can discuss appropriate document delivery and what additional information is needed for a useful consultation.
